Basic SAS Skills I

This module introduces learners to some of the essential SAS skills that are needed as an analyst. This module focuses on commands that are useful for organizing and manipulating data, and involves realistic hands-on exercises using simulated administrative health data.

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Create and manipulate data sets using the DATA step
  • Write different procedure statements to achieve specified objectives
  • Process data by groups
  • Merge and concatenate two or more data sets

About the author

Chris Filliter is a graduate of the Master of Science program in Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie University. His research interests include health services research, pharmacoepidemiology, and clinical epidemiology.

Chris has been working as an analyst in this field since 2016. He authored this module while working as an analyst with the CNODES CPRD Site located in Montreal.
