Welcome to Introduction to Study Design. In this module, we will introduce you to the basic concepts of pharmacoepidemiology that will be helpful for you to know as a CNODES analyst. This is an introductory level overview to familiarize you with concepts and terminology that you will encounter frequently. Since this is such a large content area, in this module we will focus on the elements of study design that are most relevant to the drug safety and effectiveness studies that we conduct in CNODES. There are a number of resources linked at the end of the module if you’re interested in more in-depth information about this topic.
This module won’t prepare you for designing a study, but it should give you a grasp of the basic concepts and help you to recognize terms when they are discussed in meetings and protocols.
